British Rocketry

Explore our missions

A new chapter
in British rocketry.

From student rocketry to the next generation of British aerospace.

AVROS is an amateur rocketry organisation born from the UK student rocketry community. We are developing liquid propulsion and sounding rockets, with a long-term ambition to grow into a UK space company.

Our goal is to help bridge the gap between student rocketry and professional aerospace, giving talented engineers opportunities to design, build, and test real hardware.

MonoTube Liquids

A liquid rocket engine and self-pressurised propellant tank brought together in one assembly. The MonoTube programme aims to provide propulsion for a range of vehicles.

Development design
76.2 mm outer diameter
Design impulse
Approximately 5,000 N·s
Prototype
50 mm AVR0S-1
Explore the programme

The MonoTube design combines the engine and tank into a compact system, taking inspiration from the integrated format of commercial solid rocket motors.

FLAGSHIP PROGRAMME

AVROS OWL

A UK-developed liquid bipropellant sounding rocket, designed to carry research payloads into the upper atmosphere and study conditions at supersonic speeds.

Vehicle diameter
5 inches
Target altitude
50–100 km
Purpose
Research payload flights
Explore the OWL programme

OWL aims to reach 50–100 km and is intended as a stepping stone towards larger rockets and propulsion systems.

The AVROS-C flight helped lay the groundwork for this programme. Explore its flight record in Previous Missions.

Ambition needs
people.

A passion for rocketry.
An opportunity to build.

AVROS brings the energy of the UK student rocketry community into hands-on rocket development. We are looking for volunteers who want to help design, build, and test sounding rockets.
